Jean-Maurice Chanet was French heavyweight champion in 1988 and 1989 and European champion in 1990, when he scored an upset win over Derek Williams in England. Jean-Maurice lost the title the same year against future World heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis in six rounds without putting a knee on the ground.
Though, limited technically and lacking in power, Jean-Maurice Chanet, the itinerant who lives in his caravan, was however the most beautiful example of will and desire and exceeded everyone’s expectations in France.
With an extraordinary resistance and an incredible courage, Jean-Maurice achieved all his goals as a boxer, and beyond.
