Jose Zepeda was born May 24, 1989 in Long Beach, California. He is California born and a first generation American, but has strong Mexican roots, shortly after his birth, his family and him moved to Mexicali, Mexico.
In 1997, Jose was influenced by the Julio Cesar Chavez vs Oscar De la Hoya fight and wanted to become the next best boxing champion.
In 1999, his family helped him make that aspiration a reality by moving back to Southern California to start training at the age of 10. His training and focus, throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school has paid off, he is now ranked 12 in the World by the WBO in the lightweight division.
Having the talent and passion for boxing, he started out in amateur boxing in February of 2004.
At the age of 21, Jose made his professional debut in 2009 with a first-round knockout. His professional boxing record is 22-0 with nineteen coming by way of knockout.
