Jamie Moore (born 4 November 1978) from Walkden, Salford. Moore is a former two-time British Light Middleweight Champion and a former Commonwealth Champion. He vacated the British crown in December 2007 to concentrate on the European title for which he is the mandatory challenger.

Moore boxed as an amateur before turning professional in October 1999. He won his professional debut against Clive Johnson scoring a knockout in the third round on a card that included Ricky Hatton, Anthony Farnell, Thomas McDonagh and journeyman Peter Buckley. Moore's first opportunity to fight for a title belt, the WBU Intercontinental Light Middleweight Title, was in July 2001. However, Moore suffered the first defeat of his career when Scott Dixon stopped Moore in the fifth of the scheduled twelve rounds to take the title, despite Moore having Dixon down in the third rounds.

In 2003, Moore fought Liverpool's Michael Jones for both the British and Commonwealth Light Middleweight Title at the Everton Park Sports Centre in north Liverpool. Moore won this tough fight on points to win his first professional title. Moore retained the British title in subsequent fights and became the first Salford Fighter in over 100 years to win the Lonsdale Belt. However, this was not the last that Moore was to see of Liverpudlian Michael Jones as the pair fought again in November 2004 again at the Altrincham Leisure Centre in Cheshire for the British title and this time Moore lost after being disqualified in the third round to hitting on the break. The pair again faced each other for the final time in July 2005 at the same venue and for the same British Light Middleweight title but this time Moore avenged the defeat he suffer the previous year by stopping Jones in the sixth round.

Moore most high profile fight so far in his professional career came in September 2006 when he fought Matthew Macklin at the George Carnell Leisure Centre, Davyhulme, Manchester. Macklin, a Birmingham Irish fighter, is a former Irish Middleweight Title holder and is trained and fights out of the Billy Graham's Gym across the city from Moores gym also in Manchester which increased the rivialry in the fight. Moore defeated Macklin in a "fight of the year" contender bout to take the British Light Middleweight Title.

Matthew Macklin (born 14 May 1982 in Birmingham, England) of Irish extraction, his father being from County Roscommon and his mother from County Tipperary. Macklin usually fights at light middleweight or the divisions either side.

Macklin and his brother Seamus, who is also a boxer, spent much of his youth in his grandparents native County Tipperary (his mother was born in Birmingham UK) and it was there that he learnt to play Ireland's national sport hurling. Macklin became a talented hurling player in his own right and represented County Tipperary, a leading team in Irish hurling, at all age levels up to Under 21 inter county level. Macklin is still a close friend of leading Hurler Eoin Kelly. To compound the hurling connection Macklins father came from Four Roads , one of the few areas in Co. Roscommon where hurling is the no. 1 sport and he often cites this as a major influence on his interest in the game. Macklin still attends hurling events such as the Poc Fada or when The Premier County are playing. In 2001, Macklin won the English Senior ABA Welterweight title at the age of 18 whilst studying law at Coventry University, with a victory against veteran Justin Turley.

Macklin left the amateur ranks and turned professional in September 2001, winning his first fight at the Bellahouston Sports Centre, Glasgow, Scotland, in which Macklin beat previously undefeated Ram Singh from Wisbech in a first round knockout on a card which included Scottish fighters Scott Harrison, Alex Arthur and Willie Limond.
Macklin is now trained by Buddy McGirt after previously being with Billy Graham and being a regular sparing partner for Ricky Hatton and is promoted by Irishman Brian Peters. Macklin is a former Irish Middleweight Title holder.

In September 2006, Macklin was involved in his highest profile fight when he was defeated in a fight of the year contender bout against Manchester's Jamie Moore for the British Light Middleweight Title which took place at the George Carnell Leisure Centre, Davyhulme, Manchester, England.

There has been speculation of a potential Irish title fight against New York based Derry native John Duddy. In the summer of 2006 Macklin made a guest appearance in Dublin to hand over the Irish middleweight title to fellow stable-mate Dubliner Jim Rock. At post fight press conference John Duddy's matchmaker Jim Borzell stated to Macklin that if he won "the European title then maybe you'll have something John wants." Macklin then replied, "Maybe I have something for him he doesn't want!".
