Born July 12th 1962, Chavez began his career at age 17 but didn’t get his first world title shot until he was 22, when he won the WBC Super featherweight title. Before he was through, Chavez had added the WBA and WBC lightweight belts and the WBC and IBF super lightweight titles, compiling a 31 - 4 - 2 record in world title bouts.
