Taylor W split decision
Pavlik W TKO 7
In an entertaining slugfest, Miranda was down twice in the sixth and was stopped with a barrage of blows in the seventh. Pavlik came out early with a strict gameplan of putting Miranda on his heels and backing him up. Pavlik continually landed short, vicious power punches as compared to Miranda's wild looping punches. As the fight wore on, it became increasingly one-sided and Miranda started to feel the effects of the power punches in the sixth. Pavlik landed a vicious right hand followed by two or three more power punches in the sixth and Miranda went down. He got up on very unsteady legs, and spat out his mouthpiece. The referee asked his cornerman to put the mouthpiece back in his mouth and then the fight continued. Miranda took quite a few more power punches before being dropped again. He got up again on unsteady legs and was saved by the bell. When Miranda came out for the seventh round, it was clear that he was finished as he took another barrage of punches from Pavlik before referee Steve Smoger jumped in to stop the carnage.
