Michael Brodie vs Injin Chi I

BRODIE vs CHI - Voted 2003 Fight of The Year
Initially a majority decision for Chi, but was changed half hour later when WBC President Jose Sulaiman determined there was an error in the scoring of one of the cards.
Brodie was deducted one point under WBC rules for a cut caused by an accidental head clash. However, post fight Chi was examined by the doctor who found no evidence of a cut, just some grazing of the skin.
The title had been declared vacant when reigning champ Erik Morales was named "WBC Champion Emeritus".

Michael Brodie (born 10 May 1974, Manchester, England). He fought at Featherweight and super-bantamweight.

Brodie boxed as an amateur before turning professional in October 1994, winning his first fight in Manchester, in which Brodie beat Warley Super Bantamweight Graham McGrath with a knockout in the fifth round on a card that included fellow Mancunian's Wahid Fats, Carl Smith and Carl Harney.

Brodie won his first title belt, the vacant British super bantamweight title, in March 1997 with a ten round knockout win over Neil Swain at the Wythenshawe Forum in Manchester. The following year Brodie won the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Title with a win over Brian Carr and later that year Brodie added the European (EBU) Super Bantamweight Title.

Brodie's first opportunity to fight for a world title belt came in September 2000 after Mexican Erik Morales vacated his WBC Super bantamweight title. However, Brodie suffered the first defeat on his career when Willie Jorrin beat Brodie on points to take the title.

In May 2002, Brodie won the WBF Featherweight Title and added the IBO Featherweight Title in 2003.

Chi, In-jin (Korean) born July 18, 1973, in Seoul, South Korea). He is a former World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight world champion

Chi made his professional debut on November 20, 1991. He challenged WBC Featherweight Title holder Erik Morales on July 28, 2001, but lost a unanimous decision. On October 18, 2003, the brawling Chi got another shot at the vacant WBC featherweight title against Michael Brodie, but came up short of the title with a draw. In the rematch the following year, he knocked out Brodie in the 7th round. After defending the title twice, he lost the belt to Takashi Koshimoto in 2006 via split decision. Chi recaptured the WBC featherweight title with a unanimous decision over defending title holder Rudy Lopez at the Chungmu Art Hall in Seoul, Korea, in December of 2006. Scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 116-113. Koshimoto had been defeated by Lopez in his first defence, yielding the belt to Lopez before it was regained by Chi.

On July 31, 2007, Chi announced he was vacating his title. He will instead participate in K-1 fighting. On February 24, 2008, Chi made his debut as a K-1 fighter on the K-1 Asia MAX 2008 in Seoul. He defeated Ryuji Kajiwara by 3-0 unanimous decision on the extra rounds.
