Charles Sonny Liston was born in St. Francis County, Arkansas. 8th May 1932/4. Sonny turned pro in 1953 when he won 14 of his first 15 fights. His one setback was when his jaw was broken by Marty Marshall in the 2nd round. Liston came back after 20 months on the 29th January 1958 and went on to win 33 of his next 34 fights. He had a world title fight with Floyd Patterson in Chicago and won in the 1st round. One year later, in a rematch, he won again in the 1st round. Liston looked unbeatable but lost to Cassius Clay in 1964.
